Community Resilience Model (CRM)

The Community Resiliency Model (CRM) teaches simple, science-based wellness skills that help people understand how trauma and chronic stress affect the nervous system and how to return to a balanced “resilient zone.” CRM empowers individuals to notice their body’s signals, build effective self-care habits, and share these tools to strengthen resilience across families and communities.

Workshop Length: varies, 1 hr (abbreviated), 1 day (intensive), 2 days (extended)

Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR)

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.

Workshop Length: 1.5 hours

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is a skills-based training for any adult who would like to know how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of a mental health or substance use challenge. Two options are offered:

  • Adult MHFA is for any adult who wishes to learn the knowledge and skills to support another adult struggling with a mental health or substance use challenge. 
    • Workshop Length: 7 hours in-person plus 2 hours required online pre-work.
  • Youth MHFA is for any adult (school staff, coach, camp counselor, youth group leader, parent, caregiver, etc.) who interacts with youth 12-18 years old.
    • Workshop Length: 6 hours in-person plus 2 hours required online pre-work.

Let’s Talk Safety – Prevention. Preparedness. Partnership. 

This conversation is designed to bring together trusted community leaders to help prepare our neighborhoods and our faith community for upcoming spring and summer events. Moderated by OVP, our goal is to ensure we are aligned, proactive, and equipped with the tools and partnerships needed to keep our communities safe.

The panel will focus on:

  • Strengthening collaboration among community partners
  • Identifying safety strategies for large gatherings and community events
  • Sharing resources and prevention efforts ahead of the summer months
  • Equipping leaders with practical tools to promote safety

Mental Health America of Central Carolinas offers virtual 1-hour trainings on navigating specific mental health diagnoses, self-care & self-love, and de-escalation, as well as QPR Suicide Prevention and Mental Health First Aid courses.   

NAMI Charlotte offers a variety of support groups, education, and presentations related to supporting peers and others through mental health challenges. 

Alliance Health offers virtual 1-hour trainings on helping someone in crisis, discussing mental health in youth, and Let’s Talk Trauma, as well as Mental Health First Aid courses.
